Julie Cornish

Colorectal Consultant Surgeon and Senior Lecturer Hon, LARS Collaborative Co-Lead.

Mrs Julie Cornish is a consultant colorectal surgeon and senior lecturer in Cardiff, with a subspecialty interest in pelvic health. Julie trained in Wales and London, with an MD from Imperial College and a pelvic floor fellowship in Oxford. She is the Chair in Waiting for the UK Pelvic Floor Society and a Trustee of the MASIC Foundation.
Julie is the chief investigator for the NIHR POLARiS study, a multi million pound study in the UK and Australia, which is investigating treatment options for LARS. Her research interests focus on outcomes after surgery, in particular bowel dysfunction after surgery and outcomes after childbirth injury. She has published more than 70 papers and is regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally on LARS and functional outcomes after surgery.
