Prof. Carlo Ratto is Professor of Surgery at the Catholic University of Rome, Italy. There he received his medical graduation and completed his Residency in General Surgery. Prof. Ratto is the Chief of the Unit of Proctology and Pelvic Floor Surgery at the Isola Tiberina Gemelli Hospital in Rome, Italy. He is one of the leading research experts in the Coloproctology, first author of numerous scientific articles published on prestigious Journals, Editor of the book entitled “Fecal Incontinence: diagnosis and treatment” (Springer Verlag, 2007), and the Book series “Coloproctology” (Springer Verlag, three volumes already published), Editorial Board Member and reviewer of several Journals specialized in Coloproctology. He is Honorary International Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), Regional Vice President for Europe of the International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ISUCRS), Member of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), and Italian Unitary Society of Coloproctology (SIUCP). His main fields of interest are: fecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and constipation, hemorrhoidal disease, anal fistula, colorectal cancer, anal cancer and HPV-related disease, anorectal physiology and diagnostics.
